On Sunday Steven Parkin preached on Psalm 116 and encouraged us to find our ultimate joy and satisfaction in God. The key to joy this Christmas season is not presents, family, a break from school and work, or any of the activities of the season. The key to joy is knowing God and enjoying His presence! The beauty of Christmas is that God has come to us, Jesus is Immanuel, God with us. Because Christ has drawn near to us our "death problem" and "presence problem" have both been solved.

Listen to The Joy of God's Presence

This week Carey Wilson will be preaching on Messiah and the promise of the kingdom. Take some time to read Isaiah 40-43 and reflect on the following questions. (If you have a study bible check out the notes for help.)

  • Does the message of Isaiah seem positive or negative? Why?
  • What view of God emerges in this text?
  • How do these themes set the stage for the coming of Jesus?

Please pray for Carey as he studies and prepares to preach God's word to us. Let's also pray that our minds would be shaped, hearts stirred, and our wills moved to worship and obedience.

Below are the songs we will singing together on Sunday. Use this as a resource to learn unfamiliar songs, to meditate on Christ-centered truth throughout the week, and teach your children songs that will fill their minds and shape their hearts.
