Our mission is to glorify God by being and making disciples of Jesus, and unity within the church is necessary if we want to be faithful and fruitful in this endeavor. On Sunday we considered three reasons why unity is necessary. First, it is rooted in the gospel itself and we are called to "walk in a manner worthy of the gospel. Our corporate testimony matters. Second, it is presupposed by the biblical metaphors. We are the body of Christ, the family of God, and a spiritual temple made up of living stones. Our corporate cooperation matters. And finally, it is commanded in scripture. Our corporate obedience matters. This means we have a duty to both protect and pursue unity in the church. Let's prayerfully seek to do this together.

Listen to Sunday's sermon "The Necessity of Unity to Our Mission"

This week's sermon will address how unity in the church is pursued and expressed - in relationships. Pray with me that our church family will clearly understand the importance of authentic Christ-centered relationships in the body, and that God would grow and deepen these relationships so that we might better help each other follow Christ.

On Saturday, Feb. 18th, we are participating in a special all-day event with Countryside Baptist Church aimed at preparing and equipping the next generation of leaders in the church. High school students, college students and young adults in their 20's and even early 30's (married or single) are all invited to come for a day of teaching, worship and fellowship. The cost is $10 and covers two meals and two books that will be distributed to everyone. We hope you will take advantage of this great opportunity to be encouraged and equipped to use your gifts to serve the Lord in His church!

Find out more about the event here, and be sure to register soon.
