Last week we considered the profound truth that Jesus is more than the son of David. He is also the Son of God. This is a truth is central to our faith, central to the gospel, and therefore something we must believe, proclaim and defend. It should inspire awe and gratitude to think that God the Son took on flesh and came to save sinners like us. And it should produce humility when we realize seeing Jesus truly and believing in Him is a divine gift. A miracle of mercy. This week let's reflect on the grace of God in sending His own Son for us, and let's thank Him, "God, who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,' has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ" (2 Cor. 4:6).
Listen to Sunday's sermon, "Jesus - Son of David, Son of God."
This week we will be looking at Mark 12:38-40. The reason we announce this ahead of time is so that you will be able to "plow up the soil of the heart" before Sunday by reading and praying through the text of scripture. I also ask you to pray for me as I prepare to preach, that I would be fully submitted to the Holy Spirit both in my preparation in the delivery of the sermon. We also want to pray for those who will hear, both the church body and unbelievers present, that all would be impacted by the truth of God's word.
