This last week we considered the teaching of Jesus in Mark 9:30-37 as He redefined true greatness for the twelve and for us. True greatness is demonstrated in humble service. How are you doing this week? Are you following the example of Jesus Christ who gave Himself for us? May we seek to be doers and not just hearers of the word (James 1:22), depending on the Holy Spirit to enable us to perform what God has commanded (Philippians 2:12-13).
If you would like to listen to last week's sermon you can access it here.
This week we will begin a month-long emphasis on the birth of Christ in our times of worship together. As we prepare our hearts to celebrate Christmas we will be hearing from Carey Wilson this week and Pastor Bryan Neal (from Countryside) next week. Please pray for these men as they work hard in preparation to unpack God's word for us.
We wil also be celebrating communion this week. Communion is a time both for self-examination and for rejoicing. Please take some time Saturday night or Sunday morning to prepare your heart to celebrate the grace of God we have received through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Let's come ready to eagerly participate in this meaningful act of worship together.
At 6:30pm Saturday evening December 19th we will be gathering at Will and Nancy Moneymaker's home for a special time of worship. We will be reading some scriptures together and singing songs of our Savior's birth, and then we will spend some time eating and enjoying the fellowship we have as a church because of Christ. So mark your calendars and come join us as we celebrate the birth of Christ together!
JOURNEY TO JUDEA
Many from our church will be serving at Countryside in Journey to Judea this week Thursday-Sunday. This is an exhausting but increadibly rewarding time of sharing the gospel with thousands of people! Please pray for strength and focus for those who are serving and for those who will hear the gospel this week. We want people to know who Jesus is and why He came to earth, and Christmas is a great opportunity to lift up the true Christ!
