Since we had been introduced to Melchizedek in our series on Genesis, we took a detour last Sunday to examine the connection between Melchizedek and the Messiah. What does it mean that Jesus is a high priest after the order of Melchizedek and why is that connection important? In Melchizedek we have the unique union of two roles - priest and king. This picture is key to understanding the person and work of Jesus Christ, God's messiah. He offers himself as the perfect sacrifice to atone for our sins, He cleanses us and makes us holy, He intercedes for us and opens the way for us to enter God's presence. Be encouraged this week by Christ's ongoing ministry on your behalf! He not only died for you, He lives for you. May we rest in that truth and worship our great Prophet, Priest and King.

This week we will continue our study through Genesis by examining chapter 15. Please take some time to read the whole chapter before Sunday and consider the following questions:
- In what ways is Abram's faith strong? In what ways is it weak?
- How does God respond to Abram's searching questions?
- How does ch15 build on the promise of 12:1-4?
- What does this story reveal about God?
Please pray with me that we would grasp the grace and glory of the God who makes and keeps covenant with His people. Pray that our worship would be grounded in the gracious promises of God and that we would find joy in His faithful love. Pray that those who don't know Christ would come to know their need and receive Christ's provision of salvation.
