Last week we saw from Ephesians 5 that God has given a high calling to husbands - to love their wives as Christ loved the church. This means that husbands have to place the needs and desires and interests of their wives above their own. This would be impossible, except for Jesus Christ, who is the example of how to love as well as the one who enables us to love.

Spend some time this week reflecting on God's calling to husbands and whether your attitude and actions reflect and support this calling.

This week we will turn to what God says to and about children. As we know from the large amount of them at Redemption Hill, children are an integral part of the church, and God's Word acknowledges and instructs children. To prepare for this week's sermon, read Ephesians 6:1-3 this week and consider the following questions:

  • What instruction does God give to children?
  • What promises has God given children in the Bible?
  • How does our culture view children?
  • How do you view children?

Please take a moment in preparation for this Sunday to pray for those God will bring to the service, both believers and unbelievers, and that he will work in their hearts to understand the Scripture and apply it to their hearts. Pray for Michael as he prepares and proclaims God's Word, and for the Holy Spirit to work through his words and in the hearts of all who hear. Pray that God would defeat our enemy's attempts to hinder the proclamation of the gospel at Redemption Hill.

Below are the songs we will be singing together on Sunday. Use this as a resource to learn unfamiliar songs, to meditate on Christ-centered truth throughout the week, and teach your children songs that will fill their minds and shape their hearts.
