Last week Pastor Roger Johansen urged us to consider the object of our faith. What are we trusting in? This has massive implications because it affects us, our family, and others around us. What we believe determines how we act, and so if our faith is in the wrong place, our lives will reflect it. We need to constantly reorient our faith around Jesus Christ, the author and perfecter of our faith, who earned salvation for us on the cross and sustains us in our growth in holiness.

Spend some time this week considering where your faith is. Meditate on the gospel and think about what Jesus has done for you. Repent from misplaced faith or unbelief and look to Jesus.

This week we will return to our series Living By the Book and address what the Bible says about parenting. Parents have a massive weight of responsibility in raising children, and in order to glorify God in this realm we need to embrace God's plan and seek his help. To prepare for this Sunday, spend some time considering the following questions:

  • What instruction does God give to parents?
  • What promises has God given parents in the Bible?
  • How does our culture view parenting?
  • How do you view parenting?

Please take a moment in preparation for this Sunday to pray for those God will bring to the service, both believers and unbelievers, and that he will work in their hearts to understand the Scripture and apply it to their hearts. Pray for JD as he prepares and proclaims God's Word, and for the Holy Spirit to work through his words and in the hearts of all who hear. Pray that God would defeat our enemy's attempts to hinder the proclamation of the gospel at Redemption Hill.

Below are the songs we will be singing together on Sunday. Use this as a resource to learn unfamiliar songs, to meditate on Christ-centered truth throughout the week, and teach your children songs that will fill their minds and shape their hearts.

Praise the Lord (Psalm 117)
The Lord Is My Salvation
What Wondrous Love Is This
I need Thee Every Hour
