Sunday we considered what Scripture says too and about children. Our church is filled with children, and they as well as the adults in our body need to hear God's perspective and commands to them. We need to value children, share the gospel with them, and challenge them to be useful in the kingdom of God. Children should obey and honor their parents, seeking to glorify God at the stage of life God has placed them in during their childhood.

Spend some time this week reflecting on God's promise to children and whether you value and embrace God's plan for their lives.

Listen to "Living By the Book: God's Promise for Children"

This week we will hear from Roger Johansen, Countryside's church planting pastor in Brazil. We will be taking a look at Genesis 12, and how what we believe in affects ourselves and others. To prepare for this Sunday, read Genesis 12:10-20 and think about the following questions:

  • What do Abram's actions show about the object of his faith in this story?
  • How did Abram's actions affect himself? Sarai? Pharaoh?
  • What do your actions tell you about the object of your faith?

Please take a moment in preparation for this Sunday to pray for those God will bring to the service, both believers and unbelievers, and that he will work in their hearts to understand the Scripture and apply it to their hearts. Pray for Roger as he prepares and proclaims God's Word, and for the Holy Spirit to work through his words and in the hearts of all who hear. Pray that God would defeat our enemy's attempts to hinder the proclamation of the gospel at Redemption Hill.

Below are the songs we will be singing together on Sunday. Use this as a resource to learn unfamiliar songs, to meditate on Christ-centered truth throughout the week, and teach your children songs that will fill their minds and shape their hearts.
