On Sunday we spent a final week pondering the glory of God in the incarnation. We focused on how God is light. In the birth of Christ, the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome it. This should give us great confidence as we walk in the midst of a dark and dying world. Take heart - the light of the world has overcome the darkness. Jesus entered our world to die on the cross and shine in our hearts to free us from sin. Praise God for the incarnation!
PREPARING TO HEAR
As we come to the end of one year and the beginning of another, we are going to take the opportunity to refocus on what is most important. This week JD will be preaching on our mission, which is to glorify God by being and making disicples of Jesus. It's easy to get distracted or misunderstand the mission, so we need to be reminded of what God has commanded us. To prepare for this Sunday, read Matthew 16:24 and 28:18-20 and consider the following questions:
- What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus Christ?
- What does it mean to make disciples of Jesus Christ?
- What does the world say should be your mission in life?
Let's pray that God's word is clearly proclaimed and received on Sunday. Pray for believers to be encouraged and strengthened, for unbelievers to be drawn to Christ, and for God to be glorified in all we do.
