On Sunday we considered what the Bible has to say about growing old. God has plans and purposes for senior saints. The church needs the wisdom of its elder members. They are called to mentor the younger members and model faithful obedience to God. Growing old provides many opportunities to serve God in new and unique ways. Don't waste this season!

Listen to "God's Will for Seasoned Saints"

This week we will begin a new series in the book of Colossians. This letter is filled with encouragement for the church regarding the supremacy of Christ. On Sunday, JD will be introducing the letter and showing some of the unique background that prompted Paul to write it.

As we look through Colossians over the next few months, it would be helpful to read through the book completely to get a feel for the content. Think about the following questions as you read:

  • Why did Paul write this letter?
  • What does Colossians say about Christ?
  • What are the issues facing the church in Colossae? How are they similar to the issues facing us?
  • Why does Paul begin his letter with the words "grace and peace"?

Please take a moment in preparation for this Sunday to pray for those God will bring to the service, both believers and unbelievers, and that he will work in their hearts to understand the Scripture and apply it to their hearts. Pray for JD as he prepares and proclaims God's Word, and for the Holy Spirit to work through his words and in the hearts of all who hear. Pray that God would defeat our enemy's attempts to hinder the proclamation of the gospel at Redemption Hill.

Below are the songs we will be singing together on Sunday. Use this as a resource to learn unfamiliar songs, to meditate on Christ-centered truth throughout the week, and teach your children songs that will fill their minds and shape their hearts.
