This past Sunday we examined the ugly family drama found in Genesis 27 and saw that sinful desires lead to conflict, but God's sovereign plan is greater than our sin. Are you allowing your opinions, preferences, desires, ideas and agendas to control your actions, or are you walking by faith in the word of God? God's grace will always prevail, but if we make foolish choices we will bring unnecessary pain and heartache into our lives. Let's seek to submit ourselves to God's will and trust in His word this week.

Listen to Sibling Rivalry and Sovereign Grace

This Sunday we will be studying Genesis 28. Take a few minutes to prayerfully read through the text this week and consider the following questions:

  • What does Jacob see? What does he hear? How does he react?
  • What themes are repeated in God's revelation to Jacob?
  • What does this passage reveal about God and His saving actions?
  • How does this passage point us to Christ? (Hint, check out John 1:43-51)

Please pray with me that God would be glorified in our worship, known more deeply through the preaching of the word, and loved more fully by those who hear. Pray for those who do not yet know God, that their hearts would be turned toward Him as they hear the good news.

Below are the songs we will be singing together on Sunday. Use this as a resource to learn unfamiliar songs, to meditate on Christ-centered truth throughout the week, and teach your children songs that will fill their minds and shape their hearts.
