It is always encouraging to see that God's Word, written thousands of years ago, still has direct application to our lives today. In Colossians 2, Paul addresses false teaching that threatened the first century believers, and his description and diagnosis is necessary for us now. Legalism, mysticism, and asceticism all threaten the true gospel by adding to it and distorting it.

As you think about last week's sermon, consider if you have bought into any of the false teaching decried in Colossians 2. Remember the gospel and return to Christ. He is enough!

Listen to The Inferiority of False Teaching

This Sunday we will hear from Colossians 3:1-4. These verses speak about our mindset. What we think leads to what we do, so before we get to right action, we must have right thinking. As you prepare for this week's message, read these four verses and consider the following questions:

  • What are the things that are above?
  • How do we seek the things that are above?
  • What are Paul's reasons to have a heavenly mindset?
  • What does it mean that our lives are hidden with Christ in God?

Please take a moment in preparation for this Sunday to pray for those God will bring to the service, both believers and unbelievers, and that he will work in their hearts to understand the Scripture and apply it to their hearts. Pray for JD as he prepares and proclaims God's Word, and for the Holy Spirit to work through his words and in the hearts of all who hear. Pray that God would defeat our enemy's attempts to hinder the proclamation of the gospel at Redemption Hill.

Below are the songs we will be singing together on Sunday. Use this as a resource to learn unfamiliar songs, to meditate on Christ-centered truth throughout the week, and teach your children songs that will fill their minds and shape their hearts.
