On Sunday we heard pastor Roger Johansen (missionary pastor from Brazil) speak to us from Psalm 136. Psalm 136 calls us to consider God and respond with thanksgiving for who He is, what He has done, and what He is now doing. As those who are recipients of His goodness and love, we must praise Him! Is your heart filled with gratitude? Is that gratitude being expressed in private prayer and public praise this week? Let's give thanks to our great God and Savior, for His steadfast love endures forever!

Listen to Giving Thanks to God for God

This week we will be returning to our study of Genesis. Take some time to read Genesis 32-33 and consider the following questions:

  • How does Jacob's response to this crisis differ from his previous reactions to threats and difficulties?
  • What is the basis of his urgent prayer to God? What does he appeal to?
  • How does his mysterious encounter with God change him?

Pray with me that we would be shaped by the truths revealed in this story from Jacob's life. Pray that we would see God's wisdom and glory, understand our own nature and need, and respond with a deeper faith in and love for Christ.

Below are the songs we will be singing together on Sunday. Use this as a resource to learn unfamiliar songs, to meditate on Christ-centered truth throughout the week, and teach your children songs that will fill their minds and shape their hearts.
