Last Sunday we focused on war. Not war between people and nations, but war against sin. Christ's death on the cross means that believers must put sin to death in their lives. Sin starts as internal desires and grows into idolatrous actions. Thanks be to God who has made a way for us to fight against our flesh and find victory in Christ.

Listen to The War Against Sin Part 1

This Sunday we have the privilege to hear from Pastor Brian Warne, who is sent out by Countryside in Olathe as a church planter in Mochicahui, Mexico. He will be speaking from 3 John 1-8 about a Biblical mindset for missions. To prepare for this Sunday, read 3 John 1-8 and think about the following questions:

  • Why did John write this short letter?
  • What did John pray for Gaius?
  • What does it mean to send people on their way "in a manner worthy of God"?
  • What are the qualities of those John recommends supporting?
  • What is the underlying motivation of missions?

Please take a moment in preparation for this Sunday to pray for those God will bring to the service, both believers and unbelievers, and that he will work in their hearts to understand the Scripture and apply it to their hearts. Pray for Brian as he prepares and proclaims God's Word, and for the Holy Spirit to work through his words and in the hearts of all who hear. Pray that God would defeat our enemy's attempts to hinder the proclamation of the gospel at Redemption Hill.

Below are the songs we will be singing together on Sunday. Use this as a resource to learn unfamiliar songs, to meditate on Christ-centered truth throughout the week, and teach your children songs that will fill their minds and shape their hearts.
