This past week's sermon continued tracing the providence of God through Genesis 40-41 as Joseph is exalted from the prison to the palace. This story is means to shape our faith, to strengthen our trust in God's wisdom and control over our lives. Even when things go from bad to worse, we can be sure that God's good purposes will come to pass, and ultimately there is waiting for us the hope of resurrection and glory.

This week we will be working through Genesis 42. Take some time to read our sermon text and consider the following questions:

  • How is God's providence displayed in the famine, the provision of food for Egypt, and the counsel of Jacob to his sons?
  • Why do you think Joseph doesn't reveal himself immediately to his brothers?
  • What about their defense of Joseph's accusation was true, and was was not true?
  • How do they interpret their difficulties in Egypt?

Let's pray for wisdom to understand and apply the truth of this scripture in our lives, and that those gathering with us Sunday would be confronted with the glory, righteousness, justice, and grace of God.

Below are the songs we will be singing together on Sunday. Use this as a resource to learn unfamiliar songs, to meditate on Christ-centered truth throughout the week, and teach your children songs that will fill their minds and shape their hearts.
