Our time in Genesis 48 allowed us to reflect on the nature of mature faith. Just as Jacob placed his faith in God based on God's promises in his Word, we can also find a sure footing for our faith. Take some time to reflect on what promises God has made to you in Scripture and how he has been faithful to keep those promises in the past.

Listen to "Fully Formed Faith"

This Sunday we near the end of Genesis as JD takes us through chapter 49. This chapter is the second half of Jacob's blessings to his offspring and narrows our focus to the line of Judah. Please take some time this week to read Genesis 48 and consider the following questions:

  • Which two brothers receive the lengthiest blessing? Why is this significant?
  • What is the significance of the images used in the blessing of Judah?
  • What does Jacob's burial request tell us about his faith?

Please take a moment in preparation for this Sunday to pray for those God will bring to the service, both believers and unbelievers, and that he will work in their hearts to understand the Scripture and apply it to their hearts. Pray for JD as he prepares and proclaims God's Word, and for the Holy Spirit to work through his words and in the hearts of all who hear. Pray that God would defeat our enemy's attempts to hinder the proclamation of the gospel at Redemption Hill.

Below are the songs we will be singing together on Sunday. Use this as a resource to learn unfamiliar songs, to meditate on Christ-centered truth throughout the week, and teach your children songs that will fill their minds and shape their hearts.

"All Glory Be to Christ" is a new song to Redemption Hill, though the tune should be familiar as it is set to "Auld Lang Syne" with rewritten words. This song would be especially profitable to listen to before we sing it corporately.
