Pastor JD reminded us last week that our lives are impacted by many different influences. Whether intentionally or not, we make decisions based on these influences, so we must take stock of what they are. The world around us has a big voice in our lives, as do our own emotions. But a believer in Jesus must look to his word to find direction.

Take some time this week to consider what the biggest influences are in your life. Evaluate what role the Bible plays in your decision making.

Listen to "Living By the Book"

Our first stop in considering how to live by the book will be in regards to marriage. Our culture and emotions have much to say about marriage, but Scripture does as well. Take some time to prepare for teaching about marriage by considering the following questions:

  • Why did God institute marriage?
  • What is the world's attitude towards marriage?
  • What is the purpose (or purposes) of marriage?
  • How does Ephesians 5:32 impact our view of marriage?

Please take a moment in preparation for this Sunday to pray for those God will bring to the service, both believers and unbelievers, and that he will work in their hearts to understand the Scripture and apply it to their hearts. Pray for JD as he prepares and proclaims God's Word, and for the Holy Spirit to work through his words and in the hearts of all who hear. Pray that God would defeat our enemy's attempts to hinder the proclamation of the gospel at Redemption Hill.

Below are the songs we will be singing together on Sunday. Use this as a resource to learn unfamiliar songs, to meditate on Christ-centered truth throughout the week, and teach your children songs that will fill their minds and shape their hearts.

O For a Thousand Tongues
Jesus Paid it All
Speak O Lord
Plead for Me
