The Object of True Hope

undefined

Speaker: Otto Skoog | Date: August 4, 2019 | Text: Isaiah 40

Sermon Summary

Isaiah 40:31 famously promises that those who wait on the Lord will mount up on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not grow faint. But what does it mean to wait on the Lord? It means to hold fast to his promises in eager expectation. God strengthens his followers through his tender promises, his sovereign greatness, and ultimately through Jesus Christ. No rest or hope is available outside of faith in Jesus Christ.

Comfort and Redemption Through Messiah

undefined

Speaker: Carey Wilson | Date: December 17, 2017 | Text: Isaiah 40:1-5

Sermon Summary

The promise of a messiah had immediate significance for Israel in Isaiah's day. The people going into exile were promised hope of comfort and redemption. But this foreshadowed a future greater Messiah who would come and bring deliverance not just for Israel, but for the world.

Behold Your God

undefined

Speaker: Pastor Roger Johansen | Date: June 5, 2016 | Text: Isaiah 40

Sermon Summary

As A.W. Tozer once wrote, "What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us... Always the most revealing thing about the Church is her idea of God." God has graciously revealed Himself to us in His word so that our thoughts might not simply project our own imagination, but rather reflect reality. Listen as pastor Roger Johansen (missionary to Brazil) calls us to behold our God, for our God is a God to behold.
